We thank the Orange County Registrar of Voters (OCROV) and his staff for their hard work in verifying these signatures for the recall elec- tion. The Westminster city council is scheduled to formally accept the verification from the OCROV and to designate a date for the recall election at its next regular council hearing, which is January 8, 2020.
We will ask our city council colleagues to set for an early election date, within the time frame allowed by state law, so that the residents of West- minster may have the earliest opportunity to reject this misguided recall effort.
With this recall election, our critics have caused deep political division and disharmony in Westminster, forcing the city to spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayers’ dollars to deal with this recall, money that could be used for seniors’ programs or youth activities. This misguided recall effort is nothing more than a political cabal comprised of a small group of opponents seeking power at City Hall when they have miserably failed at the polls in the November 2018 election.
Funded by a vain-glorious billionaire who lives outside of Westminster and with business from China, well over one million dollars have been squandered to qualify for this recall election. Westminster voters can see through this political charade and will rebuff any attempts from outsiders trying to purchase political power and influence by money and deception. We are certain that the voters will continue to entrust their confidence in us to represent their best interest.”
